Customers understandably hope every repair is a same-day fix. In reality, once we know which component has failed, we often depend on the spare parts supply chain — and that is where delays appear, even when everyone is doing their job.
Obsolescence and long lead times
Appliances evolve quickly. A board or display that was common five years ago may now be made to order, sourced from abroad, or discontinued with a single substitute left in European stock. We order as soon as we have a definitive part number, but we cannot magic stock that does not exist locally.
Wrong part first time
Manufacturers sometimes revise a design mid-production; the same model name can use two physically different parts with the same function. If the identification plate or on-site inspection leaves any ambiguity, the first delivery may not fit — and a second order adds another wait. That is why we ask for make, model, and serial number up front.
When the system says “in stock” — but it is not
Suppliers’ websites and trade portals show live stock figures, but warehouses are large and humans pick the bins. We regularly see a line that was listed as in stock; when someone goes to pick it, the bin is empty, the last unit was damaged in storage, or the item was miscounted. The order then drops to a back-order or another depot, and the ETA moves by days or weeks. It is frustrating for us too — we only get paid when the job is finished — but it is an industry-wide reality.
Courier and import delays
Weather, customs, or carrier backlogs can add a few days at the end of an already long lead time. We track orders and chase suppliers, but we do not control third-party logistics.
What we do in the meantime
We keep you informed when we have a realistic ETA, and we reschedule the return visit as soon as the part is in hand and checked. If a part becomes truly unavailable, we explain the options — alternative sources, substitute parts where safe, or an honest conversation about beyond economical repair.
